BALFOUR PROJECT

Welcome to our Balfour project that seamlessly blends modern elegance with cozy warmth. While they loved their home, these Grosse Pointe Park homeowners were looking to add some interest and adding elements that better reflected their personal style. This phase of the project focused on the kitchen, dinette and family room.

In the kitchen, we utilized simple changes that had a big impact. White cabinetry lines the walls with brass hardware, creating a fresh backdrop for everyday living. A sleek wet bar with a playful backsplash adds a touch of sophistication, perfect for mixing up drinks or chatting with friends over coffee. Once utilitarian, now transformed into a bright and airy haven.

Next, the dinette area has been given a charming makeover. Classic wainscoting adds a dose of character to the walls, while a sisal wallpaper brings personality to the space. Above, a shiplap ceiling adds dimension, making this the perfect spot for lazy Sunday brunches or family dinners.

In the family room, comfort is key. We removed a bulky stone fireplace surround, and formulated a plan to better utilize the space. A custom media center provides ample storage for all entertainment needs, while a cozy custom fireplace beckons you to kick back and relax. The coffered ceiling adds a touch of architectural interest, while plush furnishings in warm, earthy tones create a welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for movie nights or cozying up with a good book.

We pulled inspiration from the families travel to Italy, their girls love of dance, of which you'll find touches throughout, and an overall slightly masculine style.  From the casual comfort of the family room to the relaxed elegance of the kitchen, this home is now a true reflection of the sweet family that resides in it.
