FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER

Meet Emily

Emily, the founder and principal interior designer, brings over 17 years of experience to every project. A proud Baker College graduate with a B.A. in Interior Design, her love for design began early - rearranging her childhood bedroom and experimenting with color sparked the creativity that still drives her today.

As a mom of four energetic boys, Emily understands the balance between beauty and practicality. Her designs blend elegance and livability, creating homes that reflect the rhythm of real life. She leads each project with collaboration, warmth, and precision, guiding her team and clients with equal parts expertise and heart.

When she’s not designing, you’ll find her savoring a good cup of coffee, birdwatching, tending to her plants, spending time with her four-legged best friend, Betty, or relaxing with her family. Every space she designs is a reflection of her belief that home should feel as good as it looks.

LEAD DESIGNER

Samantha

As Lead Designer at Design Studio Detroit, Samantha brings creativity, thoughtfulness, and a love for meaningful design to every project. A Michigan State University graduate with a B.A. in Interior Design, she approaches each space with care and intention, ensuring every detail is made to feel like home.

When she’s not designing, you’ll likely find her planning her next adventure. Whether it’s relaxing on a beach, exploring a bustling city, or hiking through the mountains, travel is her favorite source of inspiration. A self-proclaimed bookworm, Samantha loves a good suspenseful thriller, baking something sweet, diving into a new podcast, or catching live music whenever she can.

+ Go-to drink: Strawberry refresher from Starbucks.

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

Miranda

Miranda keeps the studio running with organization, heart, and a contagious dose of positivity. She holds a B.A. in Marketing from Wayne State University and brings her love for people into everything she does - always finding ways to make those around her feel encouraged and supported.

Outside of the studio, Miranda is a proud middle school cheer coach who lives for big smiles, pep talks, and helping others shine a little brighter. Her favorite role is being a mom and spending her days with her mini bestie. She believes life is better with laughter, kindness, and a touch of cheer - and every morning starts with an iced coffee in a cute cup to prove it.

She took her experience with residential spaces and translated them into cozy seating areas to collaborate throughout the office, added lots of plants, bringing the outside in, and selected the perfect wallpapers and paint colors to brighten things up.

From our initial discovery meeting, through the planning stage, placing orders and styling, Emily was communicative and attentive. She provided us with initial conceptual design and a detailed design book, and completely digitized the process of ordering. If/when items did not fall within our budget, Emily would quickly provide a more feasible alternative.
